How to choose the buffer tank volume

The tank volume is selected to match the capacity of the heat pump for heating. The ranges are approximate — the same as in the filter above the products; the exact volume depends on the system layout.

Stainless or carbon steel

Compact stainless steel tanks of 60, 100 and 200 l are placed next to the heat pump in the boiler room or utility room: they take up minimal space and suit houses with a heat pump of up to 16 kW.

Heat accumulators of 75–1000 l are made of carbon steel, insulated with 30 mm polyurethane foam and covered with a waterproof fabric jacket. They are chosen when the tank stands in an unheated room or a volume of over 200 l is needed.

Combining with a heat pump

A buffer tank is usually ordered together with a heat pump. If there is little space in the boiler room, consider combination tanks, where the DHW boiler and the buffer share one body.

FAQ

What buffer tank is needed for a 9 or 16 kW heat pump?

Approximately: for 9 kW — 100 l, for 16 kW — 150–200 l. Ranges for other capacities are in the selection table above; an engineer will determine the exact volume from the layout of your system.

Can a buffer tank be connected to a solid-fuel boiler?

The carbon steel models are rated for temperatures up to 95 °C. A Termojet engineer will confirm whether the tank suits your boiler and layout.

How much does a 500 l buffer tank cost?

The price of the 500 l carbon steel buffer tank is on the product card above, including VAT.
