Hot Spot instead of an electric boiler: how much electricity it saves

The Hot Spot 200 l delivers 1.8 kW of heat while consuming 0.47 kW: the COP is 3.82. A boiler with an electric heating element has a COP of 1 — all the electricity consumed turns into heat one to one. So for the same volume of hot water, Hot Spot uses about 3.8 times less electricity. The price of Hot Spot is higher; the difference pays back through electricity bills.

How to choose the boiler volume

Number of peopleVolumeModel
1–2200 lHot Spot 1.8 kW, 200 l
3–4250 lHot Spot 2.4 kW, 250 l
4–6300 lHot Spot 2.4 kW, 300 l

This is a guideline for ordinary consumption. If the house has two bathrooms or many people need water at the same time, choose a larger volume.

2-in-1 boiler or heat pump + indirect-heating boiler

Hot Spot is enough when only hot water is needed and the house is heated by gas, a boiler or electricity: the tank and heat pump in one body are installed in place of the old boiler.

If the house already has a heat pump for heating, it is cheaper to heat the hot water through an indirect-heating boiler: the same air-to-water heat pump then heats both the house and the water.
